Should be available for users by Q1 2020. It’s actually already available on groups in beta and v1.0.
Here’s an example request:

This would be very useful for dynamic grouping as well, especially if you are grouping room system accounts

This idea has been put forward with many different titles but ultimately asking the same thing.
The last one was declined due to "Guests" being available in Office 365 which is not the same thing at all and requires the recipient to accept the request for access and sign in.
Organisational contacts is one of these features that is used widely in the enterprise environment as is the most efficient way of keeping an enterprise wide address list up to date.
It is also used for caller ID on inbound calls which helps a great deal.
