  1. Add a "My Groups - Read/Write" Permission (that does not require Admin Consent)

It should not be necessary to require an admin consent to do Group read write operations through the graph API. There should be a permission for My Groups.

The work has started, but there is no target date yet due to early investigations. This will work first on Microsoft Teams, then we will target Office 365 Groups. ^JT

  2. Enable $filter on group members

It's very important to be able to filter members of a group, for example to search for employees within an organization by name (e.g. 'startsWith').

This capability is now available in Microsoft Graph public preview. For an example please see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/group-list-members?view=graph-rest-beta&tabs=http#example-5-use-filter-to-get-group-membership-with-a-display-name-that-starts-with-the-letter-a-including-a-count-of-returned-objects.

NOTE: you’ll need to use a custom HTTP request header and request $count too, to enable this query capability.

See also related queries in the changelog entry https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/changelog#identity-and-access-azure-ad

  3. Add support to invite user to Team and Group simultaneously/instantaneously w/welcome-mail

Today, when adding an invited user (guest) to a team, you have to add them to the group and wait up to 24 hours before the "team module" picks up the change. And no welcome mail i sent to the invited user.

Would be great if Graph exposed the same method as the invite in the GUI uses, which add the user to the group and team simultaneously/instantaneously and sends a welcome email to the user.

    Method in question (from GUI)
    PUT https://teams.microsoft.com/emea/beta/teams/($channelId)/bulkUpdateRoledMembers?allowBotsInChannel=true
Where you send in userid's w/roles and groupid

  4. Set language for office365 group

The Microsoft Graph API for creating and updating Office365 groups does not offer the option to set the language for the group. This feature is useful and requested by organizations that wants to set other than the default language when creating a new Office365 group.

  5. Support $count for group members and owners

Currently $count is not supported on directoryObjects like users and groups. Although it would be great to know how much members / owners are in a group. The only way right now is via querying the members or owners endpoint of the group and checking the array length. Depending on the number of members, this could lead to multiple calls.

It would be great that the $count parameter would be supported so that only one call is required.

  6. Allow Application to set or update a Group's Photo

The Graph API makes it relatively easy for a service app to set up a new Group and then add a Team on top of it. For some reason, though, it's necessary to connect with delegated permissions on behalf of a specific user to upload a new picture, or even read the details of the current picture.

The group photo should be treated like other group metadata, and manageable via the same authentication path.

  7. App Authentication to retrieve conversation messages for unified groups

We need the App Authentication model to be able to retrieve conversations for unified groups. This isn't a user specific call so I'm unsure why it's not currently possible?

Currently this is in our backlog and hasn’t been prioritized against other features we are working on right now. ^JT

  8. Allow us to write sensitivity label in Group properties via Graph API

    assignedLabels:
The list of sensitivity label pairs (label ID, label name) associated with an Office 365 group. Returned only on $select. Read-only.

Please give us the option to set/write/delete/modify a sensitivity label on a Group / SharePoint Site / Team.

  9. Allow filter on target of a navigation collection for users and groups

Enable filtering and casting on the target for a navigation collection. For example "get the users that are members of a group, even though the group contains users, groups and service principals. Additionally allow me to do things like find all the members of this group that are in "sales" department.

  10. MSFT Graph API - ApplicationAccessPolicy

Need ability to allow other resources (such as the Directory.ReadWrite permission) to be scoped/restricted similar to the Application permissions for Exchange resources.

Per MSFT, unfortunately, only Application Permissions for Exchange Online resources can be currently restricted/scoped in Microsoft Graph.

  11. List members from Exchange Dynamic Distribution Groups

I would like to do a request like "/groups/{id}/members" in order to get all the members from a particular Exchange Dynamic Distribution Group.

Also, I would like to have a way to find the ID of an Exchange Dynamic Distribution Group (for example, a request to "/groups/" does not return any group of this type).

  12. Ability to filter groups based on groupTypes in delta queries

Hello , groups/delta is currently returning all types of groups , AAD , Unified , etc ..

would be a huge improvement be able to filter by group type like in groups endpoint

    Something like this

    https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/groups?$top=500&$filter=groupTypes/any(c:c+eq+'Unified')

    https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/groups/delta?&$filter=groupTypes/any(c:c+eq+'Unified')

    Thanks

    Regards

  13. Enable updates to 'autoSubscribeNewMembers' when using application permissions

Currently, updating 'autoSubscribeNewMembers' is only allowed through delegated permissions. Our dynamic group administration and management tool works through application permissions, so it would be useful to have the capability of enabling auto subscription.

  14. List members outside the organization

When doing a request to "groups/{id}/members", I would like to get a complete list of members. That is, this list should include contacts that are not part of the organization, but are members of that particular group though.

  15. Read group calendar using application permission mode

Hello Microsoft team! We are attempting to use application permissions to display contents of a group calendar but currently that is not supported. We'd love to be able to interact with group calendars (and other aspects of groups) using application permissions.

  16. Handle group owners the same as group members over all api's

Nowadays it's needed to make a group owner also a group member in at least the following cases:
    - List group plans
    - Create group plan

When you're provisioning groups via code, a very common provisioning scenario, the 'creator' is only added as owner to the group and not as a member. Via the UI you first have to add someone as a member before 'promoting' him/her to an owner. In that case the user will be both owner and member.

We cannot see the functional need to also add an owner as a member, so we guess it's a…

  17. Issue: getOffice365GroupsActivityDetail missing GroupGuid and reporting misleading information.

Issue: getOffice365GroupsActivityDetail missing GroupGuid and reporting misleading information.

This happens even in the portal. If there are multiple groups with same Display Name, it's impossible to discern between them. Can you please add Group Guid in Graph Reporting API?

  18. Provide a way to identify permission object for group owners vs group members

Currently listing all permission on a driveitem https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/docs/api-reference/v1.0/api/driveitemlistpermissions returns a collection of Permission https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/docs/api-reference/v1.0/resources/permission.

where three default users are owners, members and visitors. It is very difficult to identify which user is member or owner as these are presented as displayName only and it is translated name in tenants localization setting,

We need a canonical way to identify permission object's grantee whether grantee is owner or member

Please provide more info on whether the ideal use case is to identify permissions for the entire Group or if they are specifically focused on the Drive/Folders. What is the use case? ^JT

  19. Add delta query support for Group Conversations/Threads/Posts

There is currently no delta query support for Group Conversations/Threads/Posts. The only way to track changes in Office 365 Group Conversations via the Graph API, is to fetch all the Posts that has ever been sent. This does not scale well. Therefore, it would be nice if it was possible to track changes in Posts using the delta query functionality which is available for messages.

  20. Provide API to join / leave Office 365 Group

As user can join / leave existing Group from Outlook web access etc. It would be nice to have API to do same from custom apps.
